Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Breast Cancer Ride. After reading the info below, we invite you to click on the black and yellow "Register" button above to sign up as a Volunteer. Once signed up, you will be contacted by our Volunteer Coordinator.
Questions about volunteering for the 2016 Ride? Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at: Cindy@charityeventsofminnesota.org or 651-246-2766.
Groups: Want to register your youth group, Rotary club, church group, dance troupe, Scout troop, athletic team, booster club, etc?
Got Kids?: We welcome and encourage families volunteering together but ask that parents select volunteer opportunities that are age appropriate (meaning, if you have to keep a strict eye on young children, it's probably not a good time for them to start volunteering yet). Anyone younger than 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Shifts: We have a variety of shifts available to make volunteering fit your schedule.
Fundraising: You do not have to raise funds to be a volunteer, but of course we'll set you up with all the tools available should you decide to. Did you know that if you are connected to a team that has Riders on it, your fundraising will help them reach their required minimum? Why not start fundraising today?!
Register: You can register as an individual or start or join a team. Click here now.

Route Marking
Help Riders know where to go by placing red and white arrow
signage along the designated route. You'll be in a vehicle with another person;
one person will drive, the other will hop out and place the signage at least
every half-mile. This vital job happens rain or shine, may involve some
tromping through weeds, and requires strict adherence to directions. Please
also be mindful of traffic and safety. A jolly companion and some good tunes
will make for a fun day.

Start/Finish Line Support
This job covers most of what happens at the Start/Finish.
You may be asked to help direct vehicle traffic in the parking lot, man a
hydration station, direct riders out of and into the Start/Finish, hand out
Finish Line swag, act as a bike parking attendant, answer questions, and, most
importantly, cheer on riders.
2 Shifts: 6:30-11:15am, 11:00am-3:00pm
First Aid
Attend to sore muscles, sprains, cuts and scrapes,
dehydration, etc. In case of serious injury, call 911 and then keep the person
calm and comfortable until an ambulance arrives. First Aid is needed at the
Start/Finish and each Pit Stop. You must possess a current and active license
of certificate as a physician (MD/DO), registered nurse (RN),licensed practical
nurse, or vocational nurse (LPN/LVN), Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT)/Paramedics, Physician Assistant or Associate (PA), OR have current
certification in Advanced First Aid and CPR Training for Health Professionals.

Pit Stop
Each Pit Stop team manages set-up, food and beverage
distribution, bike parking, and tear down at their assigned location (Pit Stops
are stationed every 15-20 miles on the route). Don’t worry, the Ride provides
everything you need to run your Pit. However, Pit Stop teams are encouraged to
create themes with decorations, costumes, music, games, etc to help make each
stop fun for the Riders coming through. Some lifting (20 lb bags of ice and 5
gallon jugs of water), being outside rain or shine, and a cheery disposition
are required for these teams.
Evergreen Park, Eagan: 7:00am-2:30pm
Rosemount Middle School, Rosemount: 7:45-10:00am
Albert J. Lauer, Inc, Farmington: 8:15-11:00am

Route Marshal
This team is stationed throughout the route at intersections
or other locations that may be tricky for Riders to navigate or where traffic
may be an issue. Route Marshals do not stop traffic; they simply help tired
Riders "in the zone" to be aware of vehicles, traffic signals, turns,
etc. A little cheering isn't out of the question either. Bring a chair,
umbrella (for shade or rain), cooler, boom box, etc for comfort and fun. It's a
long day outside but so appreciated by Riders who really don't want to get
off-course.

providing transportation to Pit Stops for Riders who may not be able to
complete a section of the route due to mechanical or medical problems. Each
driver is paired with a navigator/radio and temperature controller – you can
sign up with a friend or we’ll find a friendly person to ride with you.
