Volunteer FAQ

1. Do I have to pay to volunteer? No. There is no registration fee to volunteer.  Return to top.

2. Do I have to fundraise as a volunteer?  Volunteers are not required to fundraise (though it is certainly welcome).  Return to top.

3. Can I fundraise as a volunteer? Absolutely! When you register to volunteer, you'll have access to all the same resources as Riders to help you fundraise (a participant page, email templates to send to family and friends, etc).  Return to top.

4. Can I volunteer with a group (church group/youth organization/etc)?  Yes. We love when groups join us. Each group member will need to register separately but we can get you all assigned together (we recommend manning a Pit Stop). We encourage costumes and decorations to identify you as a group. Return to top.

5. I'm not yet 18. Can I volunteer?  Typically volunteers are at least 8 years old. We ask that those under 17 volunteer with an adult.  Return to top.

6. How do I sign up?  Click the black and yellow "Register" button on the top of this page.  Return to top.

7. Can I choose what I want to do?  To a certain extent, yes. During the registration process you'll be asked which job(s) you'd prefer. However, the safety of the Ride is our top priority and we may ask you to take another position if we already have enough people assigned to your first choice job and need more help elsewhere. Return to top.

8. What do I need to bring with me?  You'll be given more instructions regarding your specific position closer to the event but in general you should be prepared to be outside for several hours regardless of weather. Bring a water bottle, dress in layers and have some rain gear on hand.  Return to top.

9. I'm not able to volunteer the whole day. Can I still help?  Most definitely. Volunteer positions are mostly scheduled for just a few hours. You can look at shift times here to find one that works for you. If those times don't suit your schedule, email attaboyride@charityeventsofminnesota.org and we'll get something worked out.  Return to top.

10. Can I register as part of a team?  Volunteers can register as individuals, as part of a team, or as a team leader.  Return to top.

11. Do I have to attend a meeting before the Ride?  No. There are no time commitments outside of the day of the Ride. We will email materials that should cover all the information you'll need.  Return to top.

12.  I'm registered as a Rider. Can I volunteer as well?  Maybe. There are several volunteer opportunities before and after the Ride. We'd love to have your help. Just email attaboyride@charityeventsofminnesota.org and we'll get you signed up.  Return to top.

13. I registered to volunteer. Now what?  Once you've registered, you'll get a confirmation email. We'll let you know your position assignment as soon as possible and get you all pertinent information regarding your role.  Return to top.

14.  Can I get more involved/take on a leadership role?  If you've got the time, we've got the need.  Contact attaboyride@charityeventsofminnesota.org for more info. Return to top.

15. This list doesn't include my question. What should I do?  Email any other questions regarding volunteering to attaboyride@charityeventsofminnesota.org  Return to top.
